active sky x
I recently added active sky - i like it - hoever at times it drives flight to erratic speeds and flight level. i have changed dynamic change to 0 but sill occours. any ideas.
thanks

Re: active sky x
I had the same problem. If i recall correctly it has to do with FSUIPC rather than ASX. Check your wind settings in FSUIPC.
Re: active sky x
Also make sure you have the latest service packs from ASX.khelm wrote:I had the same problem. If i recall correctly it has to do with FSUIPC rather than ASX. Check your wind settings in FSUIPC.

Re: active sky x
I believe it,s the Weather Engine in FSX but you can smooth the Weather somewhat within FSUIPC , you,ll just have to play about with itpeter wrote:I recently added active sky - i like it - hoever at times it drives flight to erratic speeds and flight level. i have changed dynamic change to 0 but sill occours. any ideas.

Re: active sky x
I had much the same problem early on in my FSX foray. The good men at Hi-Fi recommended using the smoothing option in fsuipc and NOT in ASX. The winds still do funny things but it's not nearly as bad as it used to be.

Re: active sky x
According to the FSUIPC forums, PMDGs 747X amplifies the wind shifting effects, to no known cause.

Hi, I'm back'
Getting used to FSX and the more I use it the better I like it.
Just a quick one here....
I am looking at the Active Sky X and Advanced as a replacement for ASV 6.5 and noticed the comment that when using ASX, ALL FSUIPC weather must be disabled as ASX uses another interface with FSX and they will conflict if FSUIPC weather is still on. Dunno if that has anything to do with it??
I remember the PMDG 747s had some wierd things when ASV was used, nut seemed to get better with the later versions of both.
By the way does anyone know about AS Advanced and is it worth having? I used ASV 6.5 before with AS Graphics but never used AS Graphics, mainly because I didn't know much about it.
Regards
John

Re: active sky x
I have ASX graphics and I like it. What it does is look at the weather based on your flight and loads textures to match. So if most of your flight is going through overcast and wet weather, it will load sky (not ground) textures to give you that overall feel.

Thanks Michel
Is the AS Advanced a new version of that? And does it download real world weather as we fly along?
That is what I am after foe FSX - the real weather as we go along on a flight, or, as real amd up to date as we can get from FS??

Thanks for that....... For The longest time I couldn't figure out why N1 would be at 101% at optimal altitude with a 10KT headwind .
I always thought FSinn was the culprit .
Re: active sky x
You can buy ASX alone, without ASG. The ASX part is what downloads whether as you fly along. The ASG part is an additional purchase and installs different sky textures based on your flightplan, but BEFORE you start FSX. Once you start flying, it will not reload textures.John Khan wrote:Thanks Michel

Re: active sky x
I purchased ASA and it is leaps and bounds better than ASX with regard to wind shifts. I have it operational as a standalone without any interaction of FSUIPC, and can be used with either FS9 or FSX. And its offered as a discount for those who have ASX, or AS6.5. Well worth it.

Does ASA replace ASX or both ASX+XG? Can you use ASA with XG?1691 wrote:I purchased ASA and it is leaps and bounds better than ASX with regard to wind shifts. Re: active sky x
It doesnt replace XG, but uses XG for textures, if you wish. But the engine for weather generation is so much better with ASA.

Thanks Michel
I had ASV 6.5 with the AS Graphics but never used the Graphics part of it.
All I would like is the downloaded weather wherever I am at the time and as close to the real weather as possible.
Incidentaly I would presume all the FSX weathar would have to be disabled aswell as the FSUIPC weather??
I remember that from FS9 also, and it seemed to help with the wind shifts and things.
