Just a simple hello

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

"And yet another new hire checking in... In the real ""flesh and blood world"" I'm located in upstate New York in the Finger Lakes region. In the virtual world, I enjoy flying long hauls to far-flung locations. Like most of you, I really enjoy complex sims. I've been flying the RFP 747-200 since it first came out. I'm employed in the aviation field as an avionics technician. Though much of my current work involves installing and maintaining state-of-the-art Garmin GPS systems, my heart lies with 60s-70s vintage aircraft with steam gauges, basic VOR/ADF nav and the wonderful Delco INS. In addition to RFP, I also own the Captain Sim 727 and Iron Knuckles DC-9.. two other period aircraft that one has to actually ""fly"" instead of simply ""manage"". I also really enjoy the pre-flight planning part of long haul flying, and am seriously considering pursuing training for an FAA Dispatchers certification. I've been an online ""freight dog"" for quite a while, flying for UPS Virtual Air Cargo. UPSVAC is a great bunch and they do use the 742 on some routes, but I was really pleased to find that Ralph had started a VA dedicated exclusively to the 747-200. My other passion (in addition to flight simulation) is golf, but now that cold weather has returned to the Northeast, I've put the the clubs away so I'll have plenty of time to spend in the cockpit. Looking forward to my first flight for Virtual Polar, and hope to see you in the air and at the pilots' lounge. Jim Barrett Pilot# 1144 North / South America Region"
