Updrafts over UAE

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

Updrafts over UAE

Post by AmundRe »

I don't know if any of you were flying in and or out of Dubai today around 1730z but the updrafts were tremendous. I recorded a climb rate of almost 8200fpm at one point!

Just figured I'd share. :D

Sounds more like an ASX error to me

One would think an updraft like that would break the 744 or kill the pilots :?

The world record is held by a MiG 29 pilot who somehow pulled off 65,000 ft/min (330m/s)

wow, that is an incredible aircraft to withstand that kind of stress. Was it sustained or momentary?
Sustained being 2 to 3 seconds and momentary being fractions to 1 second.

I suspect it was sustained for at least a second or two but I honestly have no idea.
