RFP 747-200, with ISG Retrofit.

Post by alex_6523 »

Hello, I am brand new to GCVA, and I just had a question about realism, since I am so happy to see it flourishing here. I have noticed in some topics that Atlas Air has upgraded their 747-200's with either the Honeywell (FMC,EADI,EHSI) or with the LTN-92 INS system. So my question, would it be considered realistic to fly the ISG retrofit with the RFP given the fact that both of those systems accept a waypoint input. (ie. "DAG" instead of the coordinates of "DAG")
Very excited to start my virtual career with everyone involved

-Best regards, Alex Garcia.

Hi Alex,

First of all welcome to this great place.
As far as the retrofits, i dont see it as a problem as long as you try to keep the performed flights realistic. I prefer to use the fmc from isg myself :D

Alex and Marko

I have seen these on the DVD from Polar and other videos, would it be possible for you or someone to let some of the older lags know how to add those fancy FMCs and things. Is there a site for them?

I am looking at the ISG site, is that the Smiths style FMS and Honeywell display, or which ones Marko?

Hello John, as you are aware Atlas Air (in real life) uses a digital "tapes" style engine instrumentation set up. If you are looking to add a FMC to the RFP (1st gen only) then you are going to need ISG (payware) available on simmarket. And then download the retro fit from their website. They don't have an option for the digital "tapes" EICAS, but they do have an analog one which should do just fine. You want to download the panel retrofit called, "Tape version, panel includes the EFS50 EHSI, GNSXLS FMS, and MCU. "
Your all set :)

Thanks Alex

It sounds good when you say it quickly.

I'll have a look at them all when I get a chance. I have the V2 I think. I bought the CD version from Just Dlight before it went ferrware. I had the origional but it would not work any more, and I wanted the CD version anyway.

I'm not worried too much about the digital tapes for the engine readouts but would like to try the FMC and some of that other stuff.

Hi Alex

I'm back to this again. I have had troubles with FS9 and have done a complete reinstall. I have also reinstalled the RFPs from the CD. When you say "1st gen only", what is that? I have what they call Version 2, - I think. Can I put them on there?

The RFP First Generation. Meaning the freeware version of the aircraft. Not the one available from CLS.

Ah thanks Alex,

I have to say I would never consider the thing from CLS. I have the RFP CD version which came from the original, with all the liveries and other goodies included.

I'll have another look at the additions, but I think the original panel still looks great and I have always used the Civa INS which works fine as long as I put in the correct waypoints!!
