Ferry Flight VCV-LAX
I'm doing an approved charter flight on GTI from SKBO to KVCV. I am scheduled to depart from KLAX for RKSI. Am I permitted to fly from VCV to LAX and get credit for it and then continue onward to my flight to RKSI?

Re: Ferry Flight VCV-LAX
If the flight does not exist either as a Polar Open Bid Flight or as an Atlas charter, it is assumed that you got to hitch a ride to KLAX; unless you ask Bryan to make you a special Atlas flight.

Thanks Louis. I'll just hitch a ride to LAX.

Louis,
Something sort of impertinent to this subject, but right now, I'm doing an open-board flight from ANC to LAX. The flight map on GC's website shows me as "Taxi To Gate". I can confirm that my static ports are unblocked and I am cruising at FL350. Will this affect the hours that I will get from this flight?
Thanks,

Tom,
If GCP doesnt come around (it seems as if it didnt pickup your takeoff) then just email your regional manager with the times of the flight and they can input them for you manually.

Re: Ferry Flight VCV-LAX
I noticed that while it was happening. That doesn't have anything to do with two identical flight numbers in use at the same time does it? PAC998 RKSI to PANC was flying at the same time that PAC998 PANC to KLAX was flying.
Re: Ferry Flight VCV-LAX
If I may add.....
THAT is why we use our CREW NUMBER, when operating a flight, - NOT the FLIGHT NUMBER.
I suppose it can happen on a very rare occasion that someone's crew number will also be a flight number for someone else, but I doubt it will have the PAC, GCI or TTN prefix. Other people fly Polar and Atlas flights on Vatsim, not just us. They will use the flight number, if they know it, and in this case, however rare, it will cause problems.
Now we have the charter system and ongoing flights with the same flight number, - again very important.
Once again, use your CREW NUMBER or ROSTER NUMBER or whatever you want to call it. for a flight , - with the correct prefix of course.

Re: Ferry Flight VCV-LAX
John, that is only for flights made on Vatsim. For flights not flown on line you put the flight number.... I've seen a few times same flight number being flown on the flight map. It is more probably a glitch with GCP. As for the flight number, if you do not put it the flight won't show completed on the Atlas board. Tom was ok in flying with the flight number. The only time we use our pilot number is for Vatsim. Hope this clear things a little bit.John Khan wrote:If I may add.....

Re: Ferry Flight VCV-LAX
My bad. OK, I do all my flights on VATSIM anyway, so I shall be using my pilot number. It appears that my flight was logged despite the whole "Taxi To Gate" scenario. Thanks for the patience guys. In other news, I haven't flown this much in two years. This is crazy!
Re: Ferry Flight VCV-LAX
My bad too
I thought we flew on Vatsim anyway. I've never looked at the flight map and did not realise it showed off-line flights.
Tom. Great avatar you have there.
