Rockhampyon Aiport Jan. 5th. 2011

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

The water is still rising.

The airport has regular Qantas 737 and Virgin Blue Embraer flights. Runway is 2568 X 45 meters (8425 X 147 ft.). We have had the huge Ilyushin freighters here aswell and is rated for 747s.

Well John it is certainly one of the worse flood ever. I hope all is well for you and your family ! We hear that, in addition to water, crocs and snakes are now moving close to the houses... charming!

All the best

Thanks Luc

We are 40 Kms. from the flood and on the coast so no worries here.

Some houses are well under water in and around Rockhampton. They showed on the news last night the race course is compketely under as are a lot of other areas. They mentioned also on the news, to give people an idea of the size of the flood, - if it was in the USA they wouls cover Texas, and in Europe it would cover France and Germany!!

It peaked yesterday but more rain is forecast now, so we will see what happens.
