FDTL issues

Post by rawag14 »

Hello people,

I need some help regarding the working of FDTL. I joined in the first week of Jan. FAR max is 100 hours for one calendar month.

1. Please define one calendar month.

I have a total of 227 hours till date. Since this is march, by the time its April first week, as per the FDTL, I should be able to complete 300 hours, correct? For the past couple of days I am not able to select a flight off the boards as it says i have exceeded my FAR max. So does that mean it only takes into account of flying in the preceeding 30 days? Meaning, the date of joining is not important?

thanks.

hi akshay,

As far as i am aware your one month is considered to be the preceding 30days and not actually fixed to certain dates but someone from management would have to confirm this.

and also a few suggestions your complaining that you cant select a flight but do you know that you accumulate penalty points for any flight that you book and then decide to cancel or dont fly within the specified time limit.so maybe you have reached your points limit. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4633

also i notice that all your flights are done offline and at 4X acceleration :? maybe if you tried flying some off them online and at the normal sim rate you wouldnt come up against this limit so easily.

another suggestion is to try the 747-200 rather than the 744,that will slow you down too and stop you hitting the hours or points limit 8)

if i was in charge of this VA i would ban time acceleration altogether and also ban offline flying ,as unless your having PC issuses or something where by you could fly offline to test things, but that would be all.just cant see the point in flying offline myself (oh i wish  )

anyway hope that helps and someone else will correct me if i am wrong

Terry,

yeah i am getting a good idea about it. And I totally agree with you that offline flying is really not as fun as online flying. I am trying to understand the working of this whole FS INN thingy. I have got the material just havent gone through it yet. Thanks for the link buddy.

regards,

Akshay.

There is an invaluable thread on how to install FSInn over at the VATSIM forums:
http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=20466

You may find Squawkbox easier to set up if you don't need all the features that FSInn gives you:

Try both to see what you prefer.

1 calendar month is a universally defined period of time. It means the entire time contained within a month on the calendar. Example, February 1st-February 28th is 1 calendar month and March 1st-March 31st is 1 calendar month but notice each "calendar month" has a different number of days.

However, that isn't the definition that is used for the flight time limitation. For the flight time limitation the time period is as you noted the preceding 30 days. The system looks at today then adds up all of your flight time from today to 30 days ago. If you have flown less than 100 hrs the system will let you take a flight, if 100 hrs or more it won't. You flew a flight on 2011-02-19 which has dropped off of that 30 day accumulation so your total is now 97:58 for the preceding 30 days. The system will let you select a flight but if you block more than 2:01 you will be locked out again until your 30 total is back below 100 hours.

Hope that makes more sense now.

I use acceleration on about 5% of my flights, and then for only a small portion of the total flight. Usually it is because sometimes our plans change throughout the course of a 10-12 hour flight and I need to "hurry up and get it to my TOD point" before the wife pulls the plug. Anyway, although I don't often take advantage of it, I do like to have options. Therefore, please understand that I hope you never become in charge of this VA! :P
