Early Morning at Kodiak, The Titan AK Charter

Post by Hans-Christian »

Titan supplies the lodges just in time for the bear hunting season at Kodiak.

As always, clouds down to 3000ft with heavy turbulences and icing.

Coming into Unalaska (PADU), I was lucky, no rain and 10 nm visbl for the last turn towards the runway - BUT overcast between FL100 to 1700 ft.

Thanks for the new ATR charter flights.

Once again, - some great shots from Alaska, you have this and the ATR down to a fine art.

I have forgotten what you use for the Alaska scenery, can you post again?

Thanks

Hi John,

thank you for your kind response.

Using the wonderful F1 ATR, ASE for the weather, UT Alaska for the landscape, Thomas Molitors FsMap for the sectional charts and Flightaware for the flightplans, it´s just bush flying de luxe.
With my deepest respect to the pilots of Alaska Central Express Airways (and others) who are flying there with a Beech 1900C, I get an impression what it might mean to fly cargo in really ugly weather and with difficult approaches in mountainious surrounding. So you have to be very careful to land safe.

The Airports Sceneries I am doing for myself, using ADE and EZ-Scenery, Google and Google-Earth. The objects are mostly from the Holger Sandmann Alaska sceneries. As they are copyrighted, I could only share my bgls with someone who has installed all the stuff too. It takes one or two evenings to build an airport, but to me it increases the illusion of being there, where I never will be in this life and simulating things I will never be able to do.

My best wishes

Very clever H-C

I have the Holgermesh scenery addition for Australia as well as a lot of other additions from OZX for FS9 and ORBX FTX for FSX. Great stuff.

I agree absolutely about the people aho actually have to really fly in that weather and those conditions.

Many years ago I worked for Ansett Airlines, - (which no longer exists), in Papua New Guinea, as it was called then. There is some very hairy flying there.
