Dont Buy the PMDG 747-8 Yet!
Apparently Atlas cancelled their first set of 747-8s:

So did Cargolux. I saw this a couple of days ago: http://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/La ... 387-1.html
The 'dispute" apparently revolves around the performance issues mentioned in the article Allan linked.

Re: Dont Buy the PMDG 747-8 Yet!
Already bought it about a year ago!!!
But am able to fly it for BAV currently and hopefully soon for Cargolux ,so not a total waste of money
I wanted to see if the framerates were any better like PMDG claimed over the -400,but im afraid i havnt noticed any significant difference except that i can say there a lot easier on the framerates compared to the 737-800NGX

Well, this will happen if a 40 year old construction will be "reloaded" over and over again....Boeing did not learn that they can't use their old constructions for ages.
Even a half loaded Airbus A380 is more efficiant than a 747-8!

Good point Bodo ! so in love with Boeing never even thought about it !
Re: Dont Buy the PMDG 747-8 Yet!
I wonder if PMDG is simulating the expected performance or the real not very good performance.
I'll just hold on to the 742 until I can!!

PMDG simulated the -800 with the same performance as the -400, so its just a visual model upgrade more than anything, exactly the same cockpit as the 744 too
So yeh maybe best to stick to the -200

if Airbus had followed what Cargolux was asking in the A3XX cargo workgroup ...
a shame not cargo nose door on the A380 to come ...
for the perfs i m waiting to get the datas of the 747-8 to check with the A380 before saying any words on it ...

Phil,
does it really matter? The 747-8 is a flop otherwise they would have sold more passanger versions. I still do not understand Lufthansa to be the launching customer for this aircraft.
The freighter does not held what it promised and therefore it doesn't matter if the A380 has a nose door or not. BTW, regarding the performance I was talking about the passenger version.

Bodo,
you re right.
even if the 747 is a great airplane ... the A380 is even better but no realistic simu at least up to now ...

Re: Dont Buy the PMDG 747-8 Yet!
Im sure A380s sim time will come, give it i say .... 5 years
Re: Dont Buy the PMDG 747-8 Yet!
I'd hardly call the 747-8I a flop, as it hasn't even been delivered yet. Time will tell.
Airbus will be pushing 2020 to even hope to bring even on the A380 program, so we'll see where the -8I goes.

Re: Dont Buy the PMDG 747-8 Yet!
When will the B747-8 be introduced into our fleet?
I just read in the December issue of "Air International" that Atlas Air received their aircraft last November and that it will be stationed in Stansted to fly the BAW route.
