manual logging a pirep ???

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

manual logging a pirep ???

Post by jfriz »

Hello,
Just coming back from a leave of absence, on my first flight had a glich, on my computer. Good ole auto-save worked fine. However, the Globe auto-pirep won't recover the flight. Over the past couple of years have lost a lot of hours when this happens. When flying on other VA's they are able to recover.
Is there a way to recover this flight ? Or, is it gone?
Thanks,
JFriz

Hi Jerry,

It should recover the flight automatically for you but I'm not sure. I'm mostly using FS Flightkeeper.
Justin is the designer of the pirep program and could tell you more about it.

Jerry, have you got the latest version? ,when you restart the Flight and restart GCP a flash screen should appear stating that the last flight wasn,t completed and would you like to reload it.

The screenshot posted is normal if the last flight wasn't finish. It sounds like your issue isn't what the screenshot depicts. I checked error logs on the server and the most current one from Dec 2nd is all about send message errors produced by FSUIPC indicating that FSUIPC was unable to send messages produced by GCP to FS. Is the issue having to do with loading a saved flight into GCP and at that point GCP throws an error?

This might be coming from left field, but I had an issue with not being able to upload Topcat, Fuel and Gargo info via FSUIPC and the problem was that I had FSUIPC and Topcat operating under different admin privileges, FSUIPC will only "talk" to other programmes if they are operating under the same Admin Privileges. :D

Huh, I didn't know that. How do you change that admin rights of FSUIPC though? And thanks for mentioning this because it triggered the reminder to run GCP as administrator. Without running as administrator in Windows Vista/7, odd behavior will be seen.

Thanks for the replys.
Not using topcat.
I'll go through my options again, and try another flight.

Justin, do you still have Team Speak working? The address posted does not work for me.

You sure are having troubles aren't you? Yes, I have TS working. Verify you are using TeamSpeak 3. We changed from a TeamSpeak 2 server to TS3 about a year ago. Also verify your login details are as described in the post I linked to your TS post.

Hi Justin,
Yup, problems, for sure.
Good news, the Pirep is working at the moment. Reflying the flight, [5 hours] and about half way through we had city power failure. I use an battery back-up, so was able to shut every thing down. When the power was restored, good ole auto-save kicked in, and even the Globe pirep reset okay.!11
Just need to get TS working, not sure if anyone is using it though.
And it would be nice if this forum would allow me to change to my new mail, will keep trying.

Justin, you just run FS as Administrator and any External Programme as the same , I got that info from Pete Dowson on his FSUIPC Forum , I kept getting error messages " IPC fails on all retries " or something similar, due to FSUIPC, when I was attempting my TC Weight & Fuel upload, I was getting the same problem with FDC thats why I suspect its the same problem our man is having with GCP.

Jerry, just go into Properties with GCP click on Compatability and click the run as Admin Box an do the same with FS and see if that fixes the problem.

At least you got GCP working. PM me with your new email address and I'll change it for you on here. You'll see TS used on occassion still, usually at least 1 per day.
