MS Flight Announced

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

Hi Folks,
After testing the MS, "Flight" a little more, it could develope into a good sim platform. So, maybe,,, give them a year or so.

FSX, took many years to get there.

Just a thought.

LOL. I mostly agree with Jerry though. The platform of Flight blows FSX out of the water. But I don't know what MS intends to do with it in the future. Right now it's a just for fun sim and I really enjoy it. To fly airliners though, that's still FSX and going to be that way for some time I think.

There are a lot of interesting comments and viewpoints posted so far.

Another aspect of this sort of thing which I think may being overlooked here. Any time you have a major software company develop a product that is coupled with a substantial marketing program designed to bring more people into sim flying who might otherwise not dare try a flight simulator, out of the fear of flying (sorry, couldn’t resist that), the result will be beneficial to ALL simulator fans. By increasing the market base, you increase the interest in current and new entrant companies, in developing new products or expanding current ones.

Even though most people who might buy a product like MS Flight will be content flying around in the base sim, many many others will be soon flooding virtual flight schools and virtual regional airlines with their virtual job applications.... 8)

But 3even if there is a lot of many new simmers, they won't be interested in real life operations and aircrafts that are complicated so it won't bring anything to us....as far as I'm concerned.

And now you are going to try and tell me the Easter Bunny is NOT REAL?????

Even if you're prediction bears true, which the optimistic part of me says you are wrong.... By generating a larger customer base in the sim area, there will still be a trickle down effect that will be beneficial.

Along with all that, remember the fact that even way beofre the Wright Brothers, there have been a few people drawn to the idea of flight. With the newest generation of kids posting on FaceBook while in the womb, I truly do think you will be surprised how many people will get drawn along the quest to fly something bigger and more complicated.
