Russia rulez! It is a completely different place in so many ways that a western person gets shocked pretty much on a daily basis while exploring this enormous country. I'm originally Polish and our cultures and mentalities are quite similar but even I get shocked whenever I go there. It relates pretty much to absolutely everything. Usually these shocks and differences are funny and we both with my fiancée have lots of fun when we discover something extra weird as we call these things. Usually it's language related. The funniest one was when Sasha was knocking on the table we are sitting at and I said in Polish 'don't keep knocking, please'. She immediately turned red and said she was not knocking (using the Polish word for knocking I had used). Later, we both realised that the Polish 'to knock' in Russian means 'to pass wind'
