DC-9 & L1011 Freighter

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

DC-9 & L1011 Freighter

Post by GTI1643 »

There seems to be a lack of old school aircraft for FSX these days and I was wondering what you guys thought about the Coolsky DC-9 Freighter and the Captain Sim L1011 Freighter?

I miss the old school stuff too. First things first though, we need to get the Q400 on-line.

I think I have the Coolsky DC-9 from way back, isn't that a visual model only? Or am I thinking of a different company? The problem with old school is that they just aren't being made in good quality. I haven't looked at the CS L1011 though but I never would have thought of the L-1011 as being a popular freighter - I don't think I've ever seen (or heard of one).

Better waiting till the PMDG DC9 comes on line, should imagine that'll be a good Model.

The Coolsky DC-9 has a freighter expansion pack that comes with 2 cargo models. As for the CS L1011 F, there were a few operators that used them Arrow Air, Fine Air and about 3 other operators in Europe and the far east.

Interesting. Are those L1011's freighter conversions or did they come from the factory as a freighter? The U.S. had few L1011's. Delta operated most of them, I don't know how many, and American Trans Air (ATA) had some as well but they were bought by SWA probably 10 years ago and of course those L1011's were sent out to pasture immediately. Those are probably the only 2 I've ever seen in person, I'm sure there were more around before my time.

I believe they were converted to freighters.

Looks kind of cool. I looked for an Arrow one but no pictures came up.
