Flight PO164, which division?

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

"Hello all, Here is my little beef :-) There is a flight on our schedule PO164, that makes a stop in UNNT and I really wanted to bid this flight for Sept. lineup. http://www.globecargo.org/view_schedule.php?depart=9 But, unfortunately, as my turn came I realized that this particular flight is only available to the pilots of the European division, am I right? Then why is it displayed on our, Asia / Australia, flight board? Or is it only its Asian portion RJAA-VHHH available to Asia? Australia division pilots. Please advice. Thanks!! "

"That's because that flight originates in London, so yes, that flight for bidding purposes is available in the Europe region only. . . however . . . once you fly the your bid flight, look on the open board flights. If it's available you can fly it then, or there may be a charter that is flying there, or ask the charter guys for a charter to that airport. Lot's of options "

Even after the bidding is over, the open board flights still seem to be restricted to your own region. I can only see open flights for the European hub, to which I belong. I have no visibility of open flights in the Americas or Asia. Or are you saying that these will only appear after my pirep for my bid flight has been received? That would be a very cool feature and if it is the case, I'm impressed! "

"The flight can only be bib from the region where it is originerating from. Unfortunatly, the open bid flights are the flights from your own region that nobody took. The only way for you to fly that flight would be to request a hub transfer (although you have to have been in your current hub for 6 months.)"

"This is probably my only frustration with GCI. One can only fly what is in ones hub, unless it is a charter. I truly wish it was more like the real line, where your next BID has to originate where your LAST flight ended. That would allow us to see more of the world, and get more experience on various airports. I would love to build a flight schedule that would go around the world."

Does the guy flying JFK-AMS always deadhead back and never fly AMS-JFK or -ORD or -ATL after a 24h or 48h layover? Wouldn't that be a poor use of resources? I think that if we want to make the VA as real as possible, we should have the option to bid for the return leg also."

I agree with Michel. In my real airline, pilots fly from A to B, rest for 36h in B, then do the return flight from B to A. And I think that in other airlines, pilots fly from A to B, rest for a day or more, then fly from B to C for instance, rest for a day or more, etc etc etc. It would be great if we could start the next flight where the last one ended Anyway, I've just arrived in Globe Cargo and for the time being, I will follow the rules as they are ! Enjoy Stephane "

I was saying that it would be neat if we could start our next sector based on where the last left us off, as many here have described. THAT would be more realistic, AND it would allow us to see more fo the virtual globe. Just my 2-cents.... "
