"You know, there are few things that really get under my skin. But FSACARS/FS9 crashing when I'm about 1 hour from final on a 10-hour flight REALLY irks me. I've never had FS9 crash using any other piece of software at the same time, except FSACARS. It has crashed five times, each while running FSACARS, and always at a different geographical location. The way i see it, I should have close to 150 hours (vice the 91 that is showing in my log), for the number of hours I have lost for the inability of FSACARS to continue from where it crashed. When FS9 goes down, FSACARS is iced too, with no possibility of recovery. Has anyone else been subject to this, because I'm frustrated to the point of not flying anymore."

Not really. Are you flying with Acars connected to its server? I remember reading something about problems occuring if the connection to the server is lost. I always fly with Acars offline and it works just fine on my system.

I conversed with Jose for a long time trying to iron out the problems I was having with FSACARS to no avail. After a while I just gave up. I came very close to resigning from Globe Cargo due to my frustration and inability to get this program to simply send a PIREP. And then along came Flight Sim Flight Keeper. I'm telling you Ted, It's like a whole new world. I finish a flight and I send the PIREP. No problems. Not one. It has taken all the frustration out of completing a flight now and have no more worries about crashing or not being able to submit a PIREP at the end of a 12 hour flight <!--emo&--><!--endemo--> . I can't say enough about this program. I'm sorry that I don't have a solution to your specific problem. All I can offer you is my suggestion: end all your pain and suffering with submitting a PIREP and buy FSFK. You will never have anymore problems and you will be so happy you took the plunge. Especially considering that you're also getting it at a discount. Please hang in there and don't give up because of this program. Mark"

"Hi Ted, Your story of frustration is about the worst story an administrator can hear. We feel your pain in your frustration and certainly don't want any of our pilots to find frustration in something that's supposed to be fun (unless it's flying an NDB approach down to minimums in RFP...like it did on PO600 to AMS on my last flight... <!--emo&:)--><!--endemo--> ) Several years ago I wrote a simple program just for myself that records out, off, on, in, total times and fuel at departure and fuel on arrival besides total spent fuel. This program also has an autosave feature which I had set to every five minutes starting at brakes release and ending 5 minutes after brakes set. I have plans to update this program and offer it to anyone in GC who would like it. The intent will be to avoid frustrations like you have. The autosave feature prevents the complete loss of a flight (the autosave also saves the programs data...the various times recorded and fuel) allowing you to pick up within 5 minutes of where FS9 shut down. Details need to be worked out yet but I hope to get it out to everyone before too long. There won't be any pirep sending feature so if you had to revert to this programs' data you would have to write a manual email to your RM with the record. I hope this gives you some sort of light at the end of the tunnel. Justin"

"FSACARS has not caused me to CTD. But it has reported that FS crashed, which it did not. This has happened to me twice. After completing my flitghts it gave me the option of sending the PIREP or not. When I selected ""send"", it said it couldn't find the file and quit. I'll have to look at FS Flight Keeper. But it is frustrating to spend all the time in the air and then not get credit for it."

"But it is frustrating to spend all the time in the air and then not get credit for it. Yes indeed it is, particularly after 10h or so! I downloaded the trial version of FS flight keeper and it looks really impressive. I have one question: FS flight keeper seemed a bit heavy on fps, is it always the case or was it just ""one of these days"" for my old Dell ? cheers"
