Are you using CIVA INS?

"Gentlemen: I would like to pose a question to all of you. How many of you are using the <a href='http://www.simufly.com/ins/' target='_blank'>CIVA INS</a> by Simufly? I'm not affiliated with them in any way I was just curious to find out how many of us are using this on our flights. Thanks, Mark"

"Hi Mark, I am using a triple INS set up. Great navigation tools, very reliable. But they are programmed to fail from time to time, like in real life I guess... it makes life interesting when you are in the middle of an ocean! cheers"

It seems like the performance index always creeps up to 6 or 7 even before I get my wheels up! Then when I manage to get a DME update it only drops to 4 or 5. However, I just flew a 2,000 nm flight without updating at all and I was never more than 2 miles off track. If anyone knows of a tutorial that will teach me updating in detail I would appreciate it. I don't have an FMC up there (until we start flying the 744F) [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img] "

I have flown all of my GC hours using the CIVA INS and I love it! Justin

"Great to hear from you all. This add-on brings us all that much closer to the realism that we strive for here at Globe Cargo. I confess though, I haven't done the in-flight updating but more than once I think since I've been using the triple installation of the units. It's not something that I have found I needed to do on my flights yet. Anyone else here that uses the CIVA?"

I use it as well and like using it more than the GPS ...infact i have modified my panels to completely remove the FS GPS unit!!!..and have also installed it on my 727 and dc-8

Been using it since I joined Globe Cargo. Wouldn't leave home without it! Triple configuration with no problems... just make sure to cross-check the coordinates when inputing or you will be making U-turns and such when not expected.

I use the CIVA INS exclusively for navigation on long flights. The only exception is when I can navigate entirely with VOR stations but I still use the CIVA for ground speed (important when using FS FligthKeeper). I use the CIVA in conjunction with a touchscreen to improve realism which makes a huge difference. Here is a photo show. I also configure a couple of GoFlight pushbuttons to simulate the right mouse clicks required to set up a DME update. That works great as well. I am a huge fan of the CIVA INS. Lee
