Newbie questions

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

"I just begin and it's not very easy to understand everything. I've just received a message from the Administrator telling me the bilds forms access are opened, but everytimes I get the message ""The bid process is not running; try again letter"". Something I forgot to do ? Thanks for your help. François"

"Hi François: I have seen that you were added to the Pilot Roster on 17/03/06, the first day of the Bid Process, so for this month, you haven't been added to the Bid Process. Don't worry, for this month you can take some Open Board Flights, and some Atlas Air charters (see Atlas forum). Next month you will be added in the process."

"Francois, As JP said, I added you to the roster after the bid process had started. Next month you'll be in there. Until then, Open Board and Atlas Charters are for you!"

"All Polar flights are modelled after the real world Polar flight schedule. Atlas, on the other hand, are charters and considered ""on-demand"". They are available in the forum. Simply volunteer for an untaken Atlas flight, fly it and PIREP it, then return to the forum to report it is complete so it can be checked off. A little history of Polar/Atlas: Polar and Atlas are owned by Atlas Air Wordwide Holdings. Polar is the ""scheduled"" branch, while Atlas is the charter and ACMI (or ""Wet Lease"") branch. All Polar flights appear in thier website on a published monthly schedule. Altas flights are ""hired"". ACMI stands for ""Aircraft - Crew - Maintenance - Insurance"". This operation is very similar to a motorcar rental. The customer pays a flat rate for the aircraft (this includes crew, maintenance, and insurance - duh!) and any fuel and landing fees incurred. Currently, Atlas' big customer is Emirates SkyCargo. Four Atlas aircraft are painted in Emirates colors. Past Atlas customers include British Airways World Cargo, China Airlines Cargo, and Alitalia Cargo."
