Hi Nathan: I respectively disagree with your acessment of how I deal with tragic loss. You do not know me accept for this post. I (all of us) are much more complex and it would take you years to understand me and I you (or anyone). I am simply trying to say, that what we do as a hobby, is ""play"" a game. We can try to make it ""as real"" as our collective minds can imagine, but in the end it is not real. The tragic and horrifying events that occur in the world each day, should not be used as an excuse to ""play"". Perhaps the point I made about being part of the actual disaster and it's ""real"" effect on those envolved did not leave the impression I was attempting to convey. But, this is a forum of words... where emotions are hard to relate. Anyway, I will say no more on the subject lest my meaning be misunderstood. As I said above... my intent is and never was meant to be offensive. Happy New Year All! "

"There are a lot of mixed feelings from everyone on this topic but the team here at Globe Cargo is fairly consistent. We are a simulated cargo hauler doing simulated flights but in this case at this time, we will refrain from any simulated disaster relief flights into the areas in question. This is not saying that at some time in the future we will not arrange some simulated cargo flights into these areas hauling building and construction materials but certainly not in the immediate future."

Your feelings have been hurt. That is obvious. Because of this you are attempting to find fault with others by reading ONLY what you want to read. The fact that I said your idea was in bad taste is not an insult. It is my opinion of an idea that equates disaster with a game (role playing). If you disagree with my opinion, that is perfectly within your rights. But please do not try and find fault in me and what YOU believe I said. DO NOT be insulted. That IS NOT my intent for I am NOT your judge. I can not make this any clearer. By the way, it may interest you to know that I am a rather mature person of 47 years. I have been to many places, I have worked with substance abusers, I presently work with the homeless (or soon to be homeless). Perhaps my age and the pain I see on a daily bases has made me too sensitive. I realize that the trend today is towards dispassion, and perhaps that is not such a bad thing if it helps one to deal with pain. I am of the old school and will probably not change. Like an old dog, I am set in my ways. May peace and the comfort it brings, fill your hearts and lives always my friends. "

Michael
All of us are as important as the other. What you believe, think, and feel is just as important in the grand scheme of things. We as people would tend not to notice a single drop falling into a bucket, but we can't avoid noticeing the bucket as it fills with many single drops and overflows. Although I appreciate your comments Michael, I would have to say that I was simply conveying my thoughts; and as such, was not being noble. In actual fact, I suppose I was being selfish. I am after all just as human (good or bad) as the next person. All we can do is try! Although it is not my place to say, perhaps this thread is best ended now. Obviously just a suggestion and not an order! I don't think that anyone meant any harm. We were just expressing our thoughts. That can never be wrong. "

"An interesting initiative from Polish Vatsim Division http://www.pl-vacc.org/euc/index.php The idea is to fly as much in Polish airspace as possible, on Sunday from 1600 UTC to 2100 UTC. Every landing/departure will gain points. These points, after the end of the event, will be multiplied by a factor (set by a group of people) and the result (in EURos, PLN, or any other currency) will be paid to a humanitary aid institution. If some people are not rich enough to pay anything, they can at least fly under excellent ATC coverage http://www.pl-vacc.org/pol3/info.php?d= ... booking and help gather the points. So, if any of you would like to participate (just help collect the points while flying, you're welcome PS. It doesn't happen to have more than 2-3 747s over Poland, maybe it can be helped?"
