"With the release of the PSS-777 and the future release of the PMDG-744F, we have such an opportunity to expand our services. I know that this VA was founded on the RFP-742, and I truly love that aircraft. It satisfies my need to fly some great ""steam guage"" aircraft. It is a real thoroughbred, requiring proper handling to keep her flying great. And when she is flying great, she is really flying great. But the reality of it is that other, newer aircraft are now being incorporated into long haul cargo operations which take advantage of market force trends and newer technologies (read operations economics and cost here). Included in this are the MD-11, 744 and a future 777 freighter. I know that our senior managers are keeping an eye on things and have long range plans for growth into these new aircraft. I agree with them that any changes must be carefully thought out and put in place to further our goals of continued growth and interest in this great VA! I am truly excited about these new opportunities. "

"As has been discussed on the forum, when PMDG officially releases a 744 freighter, we will begin work on developing a seperate set of routes and reducing the routes currently assigned to the RFP 742. The incorporation of the 744 can not be done overnight as much programming must be done to get it to work seemlessly. There are no plans to add any other aircraft types to the VA. I refuse to run this VA with the ""anything goes"" attitude that so many others operate in. Dividing Polar Air into 3 regions and having special routes to satisfy the pilots of each region was even a stretch for me to consent and agree to. We have only been around since May 2004 and a lot has been done up to this point and a lot more is being worked on and developed every day. Two things that will show up next are:
- A much revised Dispatch Generator with new features to make the pilots life easier.

- The automation of the Atlas Charters which will have a similar feel to the Open Board flights for Polar.

In this system every pilot was belonging to a certain hub and could do the flights dedicated to this airports."

"I totally agree with you, Ralph. Some VA's have thousands of pilots (many inactive) and let you fly anything from a sopwith camel to the concorde. What's next? The space shuttle? I never knew the hub system but I am quite happy with the three regions system. My main complaint is that we are only flying outbound flights. Crossing the atlantic westbound gets boring after a while (if you belong to the EMEA region). We should be able to make the eastbound flight as well to return to the region. "

"Hi Let me touch briefly on this topic and give you a little more information. This topic will be dealt with in great detail over the next 60 days. Let's begin with the Real Polar Air. They have 3 hubs or regions, whichever term you prefer to use.

Thus, 20 flights should theoretically cover 40 pilots (20 captains and 20 F/O's). A flight that was successfully bid by a captain should still be available to F/Os only for pairing purposes and vice versa. Just a thought."

The map incorrectly shows it near Manaus in the amazon."
