Hey Guys, I'm new and i have a few questions

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

"I'm really looking forward to being a part of this VA, and I've gotten most of the preliminary stuff straightened away, but i still have a few questions. What are the callsigns for this airline? Is it Polar and Atlas? 5Y being Atlas? Also, when flying an ACMI flight, do i use "Emiratesxxx or Koreanxxx"? Thanks, and hope to see you all in the skies! EDIT: Do i get an assignment for which plane to fly? Where is the route finder? The Dispatch generator didn't recognize my destination airport KTTS! After looking more closely, this is an error. the correct ICAO is KTIX, who do i notify to change that?"

You've got it right. The callsign for Polar is "Polar" and the callsign for Atlas is "Giant". However, when flying an ACMI flight you use their callsign (Emirates, Korean, Dynasty, whatever...). For your second set of questions, the assignments are what you bid on. Scheduled Polar flights have a fixed flight schedule, but the cargo load is up to you. For Atlas flights, the cargo load is dictated in the bid. There is no "internal" routefinder. You are free to use any flight planning software you wish (I recommend FSBuild2). However, if you use the Dispatch generator, it will create a flight plan for you. You just plug in the numbers. There are a few ICAO dsignators for the NASA Shuttle Facility. KTTS is the "official" code, but i think FS9 has it as KTIX. Eitherway, you know where you need to go (the mark of a TRUE pilot!)."

Aaron- Thanks for joining us. It's our pleasure to have you aboard. 5Y is the IATA code for Atlas. Atlas flights carry the callsign Giant. PO is the IATA code for Polar - callsign Polar. ICAO codes are GTI and PAC accordingly. The ICAO codes are to be used for filing a flight plan on Vatsim. If you are flying an Emirates flight. You may use the Emirates paint scheme or any othert company you are doing an acmi charter for. Choose any tail numberyou want. We haven't broken that out- --yet. The airport code for your flight is KTTS. It is the shuttle landing facility. KTIX is a general aviation airport nearby. It is possible that the route generator and FS9 may still use it's old identifier X68. Check the link below. http://www.airnav.com/airport/KTTS Please don't land at KTIX as the runway is only rated to 190000 lbs and the taxiways and ramps probably can't handle the weight either!

"good thing i haven't done the flight yet! Another question guys, thanks so much for the replies. When we fly, is it required that we fly "continuously"? By that, i mean that our next flights originates from the spot our last one landed. It doesnt appear to be so, and that's kind of 'turning me off' a little bit. For instance, after I land at KTTS (X68), my next flight that i choose may depart from KORD, when what i really want is to have my next flight depart KTTS. Am i getting somethig wrong, or are continous flights not part of the program here?"

Continuous flights are not yet part of the system. They may be once we start tracking tail numbers. For now, just catch a ride back after you spend a day of R&R at the beach. Please update your signature to show you full name and pilot number."
