Schedule TImes
"Hi everyone, To whom it might concern. I flew a couple of flight recently and i noticed that the arrival time are a bit different frm what is scheduled. Example: Last flight i flew was a flight from Miami Intl to Quito; Dep time 07:00 Lcl...arrival 10:05 local. I departed Miami at aprx 6:50 lcl arrive at Quito at 9:10 Lcl. Same thing happened on a flight from Baku to Frankfurt. There s always a one hour difference on arrival time. Am i doing something wrong...did it happen to someone else??? Thanks for reading "
"but why can't all the times be in zulu? It's so much easier, and in any case usually aviation works from Zulu. The departure times should be takeoff times in zulu and the arrival times landing times in zulu on the schedules, it saves me recalculating into zulu and is much easier for everyone when there is a standard or Universal clock to follow (UTC)."
"The schedules published on the official Polar site are expressed in local times. Our schedule is based on the real Polar/Atlas schedule. If there is a large preference from our pilots, we may decide to publish the schedules in UTC in the future. The advantage of a local schedule is that you can see easily whether it is a night flight arriving in the early morning."

UTC would be easier for me to maintain the schedule but local is more helpful when you are looking for a specific flight, like a night flight arriving during sunrise. If we want to post both times, that would require a change in the database which Tomas would need to look into.""hell404" wrote:It depends of who´s interested, for the customer is much better to know the local times of departure and specially the arrival in local time, but for the pilots is always better to have the times in UTC so I think we can publish the times using both formats.

You don't like romantic sunsets, Francis? ""Francis" wrote:To be honest, I think most want to fly to fly as it were, not just for the pretty scenery, sunset, that's a bit namby-pamby. I think if people do want to do this then they can convert times themselves, whilst the rest of us fly just for the enjoyment and the challenge on UTC time.
