New pilot's questions

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

New pilot's questions

Post by Texxasal »

"As a new pilot here, I have a couple of questions about the administrative procedures. I have flown 3 open board flights with POLAR, and 1 with DHL. When I look at the POLAR open board, I find I am still shown as holding open flights for the 2nd and 3rd flight I flew. Since I have submitted PIREPS for all the flights, and they show on my records, how do the open board flights get "closed out"??? In the course of trying to file pireps for the flights, and also become familiar with the new GCPirep software, I have accidently created multiple entries for a couple of the flights... Can someone tell me how to go about having the duplicate PIREPS deleted? This seems like a really well run organization, and I look forward to continued flying with it, once I get the paperwork stuff figured out. Thanks for your time.. Al Rosenberg Pilot 1704"

Hey Al, I believe that the open board flights remain under the Pilots name until they are confimed and cleared at the end of the scheduled week. So, if all goes according to plan, they should be reset on Sunday? Someone from ops may have to fill in here where I may have got something wrong.

"Hi Al and welcome aboard, Polar open board flights are very different from DHL or Atlas flights in the way the system works. Polar open-board flights are not "closed out" like they are for DHL and Atlas and your name will appear there until as Ross said the system refreshes with a new weeks worth of flights. For all PIREP related issues and many other administrative issues contact your Region Manager. If you are uncertain who your RM is go to Pilots->Region Assignments and find your name in the lists. You can click on the region name at the top to send an email to the region's email address. And as usual you can use the forum for other assistance. Hope that helps, Justin"

"Folks, Many thanks for the help. It's a pleasure to be part of an organization where the folks help each other. I've been a part of VA's where the answer would have been "Just follow directions" or "that's the way the system works". I look forward to being around Globe Cargo for a long time. Thanks again"

Glad to help. Welcome to the VA. Please add your name and pilot number to your signature, and your location to your profile."
