I watched w/ some interest yesterday as Justin flew Santiago, Chile to Bombay, India nonstop---some 8800 nm and maybe 17+ hours. I think it's about as far as you can go w/ a light load (less than 50k) so I presume the cargo must be worth its weight in diamonds to justify the 500,000+ lbs of fuel required.
In any case kudos Justin on a well executed sortie!!

I'm suprised anyone noticed Unfortunately, I had to divert to OYSQ (somewhere in Yemen) which is about 1000nm short of Bombay because of fuel. Bryan, Allen (for a while), and Craig were on TeamSpeak working out the fuel planning for the flight. The intent was to exceed the max range of the 744 listed on airliners.net of 7259nm (at MGTOW...I was less than that). I think it was exceeded but because SCEL is a known airport to have issues with distance calculation in GCP I didn't get an accurate distance flown. I still need to check the straight line distance to see if I passed that mark.
Our planning was for legal fuel requirements of burn, reserve, and 10% fuel. According to our planning I should have been able to make it to VABB but it looks like 'ol 409MC burned less efficiently than planned.
It was fun planning with a group of guys and I hope to do it again soon.
