Re: Building a new computer
Hi Justin,
I am no pc specialist at all so a year ago I asked a firm near me to built a new pc for me knowing that I was a flight sim addict. This is what they produced
Intel core I7-8700 cpu@3.2 ghz, 16 gb ram, Nvidia gforce RTX2080
I am a very happy camper, very fluid no hick-up at all running P3D 4. For me it is perfect
Cheers
Luc

Re: Building a new computer
The new AMD Ryzen CPU performs much better at the moment - the 3900X or if budget allows the 3950 are best what You can get for Your money .....

Re: Building a new computer
If electric power is cheap in the U.S. go for the AMD, otherwise take the i9

LOL. Does the AMD take a lot of wattage? I am leaning towards the AMD 3950X right now.Bodo Mueller wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 7:57 am

Re: Building a new computer
The AMD 3950X is specified with 105 wattage but I heard, depending on apps, it can go up to 167 watt. The i9 series mostly stays around 94 but also can go over 100.

Re: Building a new computer
wow. Do I need a bigger power supply than about 750-800 watts? ...Assuming I go with a 2080 graphics card.

Re: Building a new computer
Ordered all the parts today. Went with AMD Ryzen 3950X, an Asus ROG Mobo, 32 gb of Corsair memory, 2 1TB M.2 hard drives, 850w power supply, water cooled CPU heatsink.
Parts get here on Friday but I won't be able to build it until next week.

Re: Building a new computer
First post from the new computer. Still working on getting software installed but almost done.
Specs
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro
MoBo: ROG Strix X570-E
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3950X
Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro (2x16 for 32GB)
Graphics: ROG Strix RTX 2080
Storage: 2x Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe SSDs, 1TB each
CPU cooler: NZXT Kraken X72, 360mm
PSU: Corsair RM850
I want to add some RGB strip lighting in the near future. I haven't benchmarked anything yet. I've got all the flight sims installed but haven't played anything yet to check performance.
